Shire of Katanning

Katanning Shire has always been a notable supporter for the BAC from 2014 when the organisation established itself in the region. BAC members have been leaders in the Katanning Governance and Leadership Project which has evolved into the Katanning Noongar Leadership Group. Staff and councilors of the Katanning Shire over the years have given tremendous advice, administrative help, contacts and letters of support to help BAC get the necessary establishment grants for the enterprises.

BAC in return has helped the Shire engage effectively with the local Aboriginal community on a range of social and economic issues including the recent work in early childhood development with State government and the Minderoo Foundation. The Place Names Project with the Community Arts Network is another project that BAC's leadership has helped the Shire engage and demonstrate meaningful support for local Aboriginal community through embedding cultural recognition, consultation protocols and service partnering in the planning and implementation of community events and projects.
